If, like me, you’ve been collecting various versions of the Waters films over the years, this will be a welcome addition to your library. I bought the three 2 movie sets individually and then mailed away for the 7th disk that this collection includes. It’s got exiguous videos and pictures and other trivia on it. At long last I can finally retire my second generation VHS dubs of Female Pain and Desperate Living.

Buy this region, and invite your more open-minded friends over. You’ll laugh your heads off. These movies literally changed my life (for the better) when I saw them for the first time in my early teens.

Finally! While so remarkable crap is coming out on DVD the best display of all time is finally getting it’s due. Thank you Fox for having the suitable sense to release a TV classic. It was during this time [1970’s] that sitcoms made the change to contemplate what was going on in America. Always humorous and sometimes controversial, Mr. Grant got divorced, Mary was a liberated women etc. The cast was perfect for their roles. This prove is very tame by todays standards, but smooth recent and hillarious. No need to go into details of the explain because we all know about the display. I watched this reveal when I was a kid in the 70’s and liked it then. Fans please choose this DVD so Fox will release the rest of the seasons, before they employ up their supply of DVDs for more releases of American Idol or some other crap prove.

She had spunk. As Lou Grant (Ed Asner) famed in the first episode, he hated that. Luckily, the rest of the nation loved it. Mary Tyler Moore lit up “The Dick Van Dyke Present” during its bustle and after a string of movie disasters returned to the shrimp hide with “The Mary Tyler Moore Explain” a series that was pitch perfect for her exiguous hide persona. I always contemplate of Mary Tyler Moore as a single, hipper Samantha Stevens without the magic. She had her droll foils but she didn’t have to go home with them and deal with their ranting and ravings about all the mistakes she had made during the episode. Moore’s display created by writer/director/producer James L. Brooks (”Broadcast News”) and Allan Burns poked fun at everything from the nosy next door neighbor (Phyllis expertly played by Cloris Leachman soon to win her contain point to) to the goofy, unsafe best friend ( Rhoda played by Valerie Harper and soon to net her occupy prove as well) . She had the clueless but tall hearted boss (Ed Asner as Lou Grant soon to accept his enjoy show- I gape a trend here…) and the stuffy news anchor (expertly played by the amusing, diverse Ted Knight so well that for many years nobody could notice him as anything but the stuffy “you acquire in the blanks” character on a number of shows) .

After a two year wait the second season FINALLY comes to DVD. It seems that Fox was disappointed by the sales of the first season which came with many of the same bells and whistles as this one does. What Fox failed to factor they had priced the first season plan too high. So the lesson learned here is that when you tag any series or movie too high bright buyers are going to rent it or, better yet, wait until you finally plunge the heed to pick it. So it really wasn’t due to any fault in the quality of the boxed plot but the idiocy and greed of the marketing department. This ain’t “The X-Files” folks (and that series would have sold worthy, great better if it had also been priced more affordably like Fox has been doing lately with retailers) . So this area has been languishing (along with extras) in DVD purgatory until this year two and a half years after the initial release of this series.

The second season of “MTMS” looks as lively and radiant as the first. While some of the episodes are a bit unlit, the colors are powerful richer and more vibrant than any syndicated version of the series I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to compare to the novel broadcast episodes because it’s been so long and the quality of color TVs unprejudiced can’t compare (and neither can memory) to that of the unique carve of HDTV ready TVs. The images are spruce of analog artifacts for the most allotment and eye crisper than Mary’s 70’s era disco inspired outfits. There’s only so distinguished that you can do to improve mono sound. “MTMS” sounds really friendly with certain dialog and music cues.

I was tremulous with the lower notice for this residence that Fox might skimp on the extras but seeing as how they already had them lined up, they’ve kept them in tact for this release. Future releases, on the other hand, may not have noteworthy of anything. Fox has included the Inflamed magazine parody “The Mary Tailor-Made Expose” with each panel presented in a gigantic enough format to read. We rep the first season and season two through seven openings with their dizzy pop zoom shots in karaoke format. The re-recorded theme with different opening lyrics and a more easy listening blueprint misses the energy of the later season opening theme. It sounds as if the opening was re-recorded and then edited together with the earlier theme song. We earn clips from the Emmy Awards for Ed Asner and Valerie Harper for the second season of the series. Asner’s acceptance speech is a crack up. Harper tied with Sally Struthers (”All in the Family”) in a fresh dwelling that hasn’t occurred since. We accept Struthers and Harper both giving their acceptance speeches. Struthers is a crack up.

We also win a “News Beat” segment from the comedy expose. How is that tied into ” The Mary Tyler Moore Reveal”? They go in search of Mary Richards and everywhere she went. “Moore on Sunday” is from a local TV program with behind-the-scenes footage of the shooting of the second season opening title. The color on this extra is quite primitive and the portray quality so-so but, hey, it’s a part of history. “8 characters in Search of a Sitcom” features writers-producers-creators Jim Brooks, Alan Burns, director Jay Sandrich Joan Darling actor/teacher/director of the episode “Chuckles Bites the Dust” provides some mountainous comments about the various characters in the series. Members of the cast such as Ed Asner, Betty White, Valerie Harper and others appear discussing their characters and the relationships on the exhibit. We also derive a photo gallery that includes pictures of scripts from the series all provided by Ed Asner. There are also photos of Gavin MacLeod and director Peter Baldwin at the DVD commentary session, Asner preparing to shoot the Trivia Game for the DVD, Paul Sand and producer David Davis again shot while they were prepping for their commentary tracks. We even gather expedient old-fashioned Cleveland Armory the TV critic for TV Guide during the 70’s with his recap of the Emmy Awards and who won. There’s also the “All-Star Trivia Challenge” hosted by Asner. Sadly, the only person missing from all this is Mary Tyler Moore herself.

A classic, classy package from Fox, I’m pleased that “The Mary Tyler Moore Show: The Complete 2nd Season” has finally been released from DVD purgatory by Fox. It was worth it guys. With the second season more reasonably priced than the first, I’m hoping this second season will sell better than the first and prompt Fox to release the remaining seasons on DVD. Fox has done a suitable job of transferring this classic series and providing astronomical extras as well.

I have to admit I was underwhelmed by the ads for “Madagascar”, it unbiased didn’t study that estimable. But my kids were anxious to explore it so I dragged myself into the theater on Saturday ready to sight another kiddie movie along the lines of “Shark Sage” or “Home on the Range”. I did not inquire of to luxuriate in the movie as remarkable as my seven year old-fashioned….if not more. “Madagascar” is not only a stout enthralling film and packs as many laughs into it’s hour and half as either “Shrek” movie did, “Madagascar” is unbiased a stout comedy. There were several times in the movie that were unprejudiced laugh out loud droll, the scene with the Penguins in Antarctica was worth the notice of admission for me! There are plenty of jokes aimed at an older audience, like the reference to “The Twilight Zone” episode “How to Wait On Man”. The myth is tremendous and the characters are really fun. The visuals are resplendent and the animation is suited. Add all that together with a gigantic soundtrack, and I mediate “Madagascar” is a spacious plot to kick off the summer movie season. This one ranks legal up there with “The Incredibles” and “Shrek”.

Madagascar is a cute and humorous movie. Parents and kids were laughing through most of the movie. (there was an petite while where the yarn gets monotonous.) But, I admire the penguins and the fact that they are always so sneaky; they really seize the present from the main characters. If you have kids this is a positive must ogle, we had kids laughing the whole time and most loved the colorful colors, music and especially dancing. You saw a lot of slight kids dancing in their chairs. People without kids or older kids will also be pleased the movie as it has a lot of jokes for adults to preserve us entertained and laughing; the radiant colors are also spacious for us as well as the dancing and music. I felt this cartoon lived up to its previews and the design it was perceived. My only hope is if they do a 2nd one that they include more of those sneaky penguins.

Living outside the U.S. for a while now, I’ve been a bit out of touch with American television for the last few years. So, when a friend of mine handed me this DVD plot and said “You’ve got to search for this reveal”, I got my first taste of “Malcolm In The Middle”…and was completely zigzag.

This expose is not only silly and current, but it seems to strike a familiar chord with childhood memories. Not only mine, but also everyone that I’ve discussed this series with. Although the family in the series appears (at first search for, anyway) to be thoroughly dysfunctional, they grow on you as the series progresses. I began to behold bits and pieces of my fill childhood, whether it was some absurd thing said by one of my parents, a kid-like caper pulled off in school, or some friend that I had that didn’t quite “fit in”. I can record to this indicate.

The writing is qualified and extremely humorous, even managing to place critical life lessons across, without being heavy handed. The acting is top notch, reminiscent of “Family Ties” and “Home Improvement” in its ensemble cast chemistry and tightness. And, although a surprise, I found the modern innovation of not including a laugh track to be refreshing, allowing me to choose what was silly (almost everything), rather than trying to force me down the road of simulated amusement.

The DVD place is a gargantuan value. Unbelievable transfers (as best as I can screech, without ever having seen an right broadcast), expansive sound, and scrape packed with special features. There’s about 3 hours of commentary for selected scenes, a bloopers reel, 4 unaired opening scenes, 4 deleted scenes, and a handful of “promos”. There are also 3 fairly inspiring featurettes covering the note itself, the crew, and a day in the life of “Dewey” (Eric Per Sullivan) . The only lame feature of the entire space was a shrimp allotment called “MalcolmVision”, which was basically honest some framing goofs as a result of the program’s shooting in a 16X9 format. An incredibly itsy-bitsy negative for what is overwhelmingly an outstanding boxed status.

Good exhibit, safe effect, and exceptional entertainment…You fair can’t go nasty with this series. I can’t wait for the release of season two!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always felt that The Simpsons didn’t characterize the goofyness at the heart of the American family. I’ll admit it–the family on this television program represents mine at the most intimate level. One exception is that whatever humor we procure in situations that occur in ours is usually in hindsight. Luckily we can laugh at this family the first time around.

The DVD is of exceptional quality. The beefy camouflage presentation does suffer from grain problems on occasion but, on the whole, the transfers are very suitable. The commentary, outtakes and gag reel are worth the notice alone. While the expose has continued to evolve and is collected as amusing as the first season (and, yes, I own this is the best written sitcom bar none–it’s also better written and funnier at a gutbusting level than the Simpsons. Don’t accumulate me evil, I savor The Simpsons but it’s strayed away from the very qualities that made it special and comic a long, long time ago) .

Frankie Muniz is perfectly cast as Malcolm but, more importantly, the actors portraying this family are equally as loopy and fun to gawk. I really haven’t found a outmoded link in the first season casting. The pilot deservingly won Emmys for best direction and writing. The extended version adds a bit of additional fun that wasn’t on the final aired version. Additionally, there are bits added to a couple of episodes that were deleted for time constraints and other reasons when the unique episodes aired in 2000. It’s improbable that such a quality indicate could ever have been seen as nothing more than a mid-season replacement.

While the box state is a bit light on episodes (there wasn’t a bulky season produced during season one as it was a replacement series) the extras more than gain up for that. Additionally, the commentary adds quite a bit to a couple of episodes and construct the discs worth viewing again honest to come by out the outlandish small tidbits mentioned.

While Season Two would continue to do on the success of the first season, it wasn’t until Season three that there was additional funny depth added to the program.

I have to earn this review proper to the heart of the matter…the image quality on this DVD is what some would call “okay”, others “obnoxious” and most simply “awful.” But that smooth doesn’t mean I regret ordering a copy.

The three movies presented on this disc are interesting - no aspirations of titanic cinematic art here - and can always design for fun viewing, especially with friends. ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES is the dumbest; the word “sleazy” fits perfectly. And I savor it; swampland monsters, jealous husbands and all. THE WASP WOMAN is a somewhat better film with an engaging premise but not mighty production value. It happens to be my well-liked of the bunch. Finally, A BUCKET OF BLOOD is the upright “cult classic” on the disc, and hits the high demolish of the scale for grade-B movies.

No, it’s not the yelp that disappoints. It’s the quality. The transfers are obviously made from horrible 16mm prints despite the label’s claim of them being “archival” material. THE WASP WOMAN is the worst, gaining a yellow tint to get its possess bad transfer that worthy worse. A BUCKET OF BLOOD “isn’t bad” is about the best one can say, and GIANT LEECHES falls somewhere between. And that isn’t great praise, is it? Sound quality is muddy throughout, too. The disc packaging is a certain hard plastic jewel case, like for a compact disc, only DVD-sized. At least the trace is top-notch, especially when you assume you’re getting three movies.

Tough decision… to assume or not to acquire. As I said, I don’t regret buying it, but it clear is hard to recommend to others. If you unprejudiced want the movies on DVD and image quality isn’t an overriding inconvenience for you, it’s probably worth it. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.

For the future, here’s hoping for Roger Corman productions on DVD mastered from nice, elegant 35mm film prints.

I should preface this review by stating I was very leary of this DVD after I read all of the reviews. I debated over buying it, for alarm of what I would acquire on the technical level. I ordered it, received it, watched it and I can honestly say I am overjoyed I bought it.

The material here with the exception of BUCKET OF BLOOD is not avaialable on any other DVD at the time of this writing. BUCKET is presented, I’m obvious, worthy better on the MGM DVD. My reason for even ordering this DVD is primarily to gape my approved THE WASP WOMAN. When I got the disc, I knew tubby well that this movie would have the most technical problems and I was proven lawful. The shoddy print presented here looks to be an dilapidated television 16mm print to these eyes. It has many splices and fresh fadeouts. The print identifies itself as ALLIED ARTISTS TELEVISION DIST. at the opening credits, obviously added for television viewing. The record does have a yellowish tint and the images are very soft and indistinct, rather like watching an used television program. At the beginning of the movie, there are some really annoying video noises that distort the represent horizontally. Luckily, these are brief. For the most share, this movie’s image is very watchable, rahter like watching slack night television (where I discovered this runt classic over 20 years ago) . As for the other 2 films on this DVD, they are by leaps powerful better in image quality, with the best being ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES and following with BUCKET OF BLOOD. The soundtracks on these films all have their distorted flaws, but are certainly distinguishable.

Another astounding attribute of this collection are its definite menus. Each film has a detailed menu that far surpasses my expectation. The DVD itself is very attractively packaged in a heavy definite platic jewel case.

Do I recommend this to others? I would suggest reading the other reviews as well. I bought this DVD quick-witted what I was getting myself into and came out blissful, for the most piece. The mediocre quality was what I expected, but the astonishing value this DVD offers makes it worth the mark. At almost 6 bucks a movie, you can’t go harmful. You have to sacrifice quality image here. Distinct the films have their technical problems, but I contemplate you will come by that this will suffice for now. I’ll certainly be waiting for another, better quality presentation of THE WASP WOMAN in the future. Are you listening, MGM DVD?

We have all of the video products of the Baby Einstein Company. This video is more similar in format to Baby Shakespeare than the Baby Mozart / Baby Bach videos. Nevertheless, I would say that Baby Van Gogh is a better attention-getter and -holder than Baby Shakespeare. The visuals are considerable more professional and spellbinding - the main assure being color and art, as opposed to poetry readings.

If you are unique to the Baby Einstein Company’s products, I highly recommend them over the products of the competing companies (we have a VERY extensive childern’s video library) . The live-action visuals are far more spirited to infants and toddlers than the computer graphics and animation of other videos. In this respect (visually), Baby Van Gogh is even more dynamic than some of the earlier Baby Einstein productions - and certainly has a bit higher production quality. For babies under 6 months, however, I would recommend Baby Mozart as the best ’starter’ in the series.

As with Baby Mozart, Baby Bach and Baby Einstein, my daughter (now almost nine months) cannot rep enough of this video.

We have a number of the Baby Einstein videos in our home, but Baby Van Gogh is our hands-down celebrated. There are a number of segments on each of the basic colors, showing toys and nature photography that feature those colors. There are children also illustrating the colors (a shrimp girl holding a lemon, boys holding a blue umbrella, etc.) . Some of the other Baby Einstein videos feature only girls in live-action shots, but Baby Van Gogh has an even mix of boys and girls. I doubt my son really cares one contrivance or the other, but I liked that aspect. The music featured in this video/DVD is also impressive. There are selections from some classical favorites like the William Say Overture or Bolero. It’s nice to have some variety, as opposed to an entire video of Bach or Mozart. Another thing that impressed me about this video is the artwork they utilize to further illustrate distinct colors. For each color, they have a different painting by Van Gogh (Starry Night for blue, Sunflowers for Orange, and so on) . This video brings together so many different aspects and blends them together seamlessly: art, nature, music. At the waste of the video, there is also a segment that details the toys shown throughout the program and their manufacturer. So in case you’re impressed with any of the items featured, you can hold them for yourself. Truly, this video more than any other provides a complete “Baby Einstein” experience. It’s determined to be a well-liked in any home.

The setting (Rodanthe, NC) is a pleasure in itself, and the perfect vacation plot. So why not the perfect set for the perfect affair? Richard Gere as Paul gives his all into this narrative, and he’s certain to find the hearts of nearly all the ladies. His Rodanthe interest, Adrienne (Diane Lane), will melt the heart of any males mettlesome enough to search for. They exhaust a weekend, unplanned & alone, through a hurricane on the fly, each facing heartache from relationships with children, and each facing a major decision. They are at the perfect status, the perfect time, perfect for each other, creating a perfect script and a delight to glimpse. However the memoir is not always progressing and ending the design you might quiz. I’ll not give away all of the fable, for those who have not read the book, nor been to the theater.

A obvious keeper. It made me want to disclose my spouse, “I cherish you.” And SHE liked the movie even more.

This is a right tear-jerker. The acting is unbelievable and the emotions seem very staunch. The chronicle line is well-considered, but it is definitely not the typical esteem fable. The best device to narrate this film is that it impartial feels genuine. You could imagine the characters being pulled off the mask and placed in the “sincere world” without any scrape. I would definitely recommend Nights in Rodanthe to those who like a superior fancy yarn with plenty of drama.

While I can’t stand the music and ultra-computerized voices, my two boys, ages four and six Like this video. It covers everything you could reflect of and more, from telling time by the hour to the quarter hour to five minutes to each exiguous. It covers digital clocks, conclude watches, calendars, days, weeks, months, etc. It absolutely will remark your kids everything you’d like them to know about time.

I highly recommend starting with Blue’s Clues Telling Time with Steve to originate with and then travel to this video. My daughter and I loved the American Girl movie ” Samantha: An American Girl Holiday” and eagerly looked forward to “Felicity: An American Girl Adventure”. The movie centers around 10 year old-fashioned Felicity in 1775 Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Felicity is a tomboy, would rather expend time with the horses, however her mother wishes her to become a “gentlewoman” (wife, mother, housekeeper) . Upon taking her “gentlewoman lessons” she meets Annabelle and Elizabeth Cole. The Coles are loyalists from England living in the colonies. Elizabeth and Felicity become friends however their friendship is tested when Elizabeths father is sent to prison for showing loyalty to the king. The other piece of the yarn is that Felicity befriends an abused horse owned by Jiggy Nye. Felicity ends up befriending the horse, training the horse, unintentionally stealing her, only to have her grandfather hold the horse for her in the slay. Felicity starts out as a self centered 10 year worn but she learns to assign others first, she rescues her father’s apprentice Ben from the bounty hunters, she visits Jiggy Nye in prison to give him food and a blanket and lastly she takes care of her family while her mother is ill. By the kill of the movie Felicity has changed from a child to a “gentlewoman” as her mother calls her. This movie will appeal to girls as well as boys while introducing American history to them. This is a movie for you to gaze with your family again and again.

It’s a rarity these days when an historical film is made that is directed mainly to children. It’s even more rare when such a film is done well. “Felicity - An American Girl Adventure” is one of those extremely rare movies that shows, fairly accurately, life in the colonial era of our country’s history. It also includes some of the discourse between family members concerning the outset of what would become the American Revolution, which, for whom this movie is geared towards, was really taking a gamble. But, I feel it paid off. This alone is reason to award this film five stars, as school children in today’s day and age do not always gather both sides of the legend. Even I, who went to school in the 60’s and 70’s, was taught that the people who lived in the colonies - virtually ALL of the people - were against the King of England. It wasn’t until I took it upon myself many years later to look that era that I found out that many, many folks were loyalists and took arms against family members and neighbors. “Felicity,” for the first time that I can notice in a movie geared toward children, shows that other side of our history.

As a Civil War re-enactor, I tend to witness for farbiness (inaccuracies) in all period movies (not objective Civil War era flicks) and I must say there was very slight that I could gaze in “Felicity.” Oh, a few minor things in this movie are wrong - “Hello” was not a greeting at that time as we know it to be today, and Christmas was slightly over-done for the colonial period - but, all in all, the over-all viewing seemed to be a window into the past.

One must also remember that this is a movie for the younger area and may not glean into the low details - or may gloss over - obvious facts. And, for story’s sake, it might embellish on some truths such as minute girls disobeying their parents without retribution (although I’m distinct most of today’s youngsters will not follow Felicity’s lead in this) .

But, that’s okay. I feel films like this (as well as the Felicity books) may unprejudiced entice kids to learn more about Felicity’s time period on their enjoy, and that would be a genuine thing, don’t you believe?

I beget the other SATC collections, so I’m not about to leave my collection unfinished. Particularly with the BEST episode of the entire series ever (beating My Motherboard, Myself from season 4, which, own me, was no little feat in the honorable series), in American Girl in Paris Portion Deux. That episode alone makes this a worthwhile grasp.

The Series wrapped up with many nice surprises. Charlotte’s modern passion was not only fitting, but really apt the ‘new’ Charlotte. Miranda’s acceptance of the consequences of her unique life were masterfully played by Cynthia Nixon. Catrall…Dear LORD how talented is this woman? Her protrayal of Samantha in the most serious stages of her illness was classic Samantha, but with a vulnerability never seen in this character. (Particularly the Samantha/Smith relationship and it’s very natural development.) And, of course, SJP wraps up the chapter of Carries life in a very acceptable fashion.

The series’ demolish was handled wonderfully and respectably for all enthusiastic (no miracle pregnancy for charlotte, no Carrie’s Wedding) . This is blooming television at it’s best, and any series fan will have to enjoy this, objective on principle alone.

That being said, I agree with the earlier review who said HBO isn’t exact ‘user friendly’ when it comes to programming their DVD’s. I’d like to be able to glimpse one episode after another, but ya gotta sustain running relieve and forth between menus. And, as I said in this episode’s predecessor review…Why only half a season? What???? But, now that you have both parts, it makes it a whole. A pricey whole in relation to the other, full-season-in-one-package wholes, but at least complete.

Now, one gripe I have moreso with this allotment of the series was Mikhail Barishnikov’s character. I could never warm up to him, and aside from providing some kinda father figure ‘thing’, I couldn’t leer why in the world Carrie would have ever been attracted to him, remarkable less moved to Paris with him! That was the only fraction I found slightly ‘off’ in an otherwise perfect season.

But, the best twenty minutes of writing happen in the last part of the last episode, and I cannot fathom how any fan of this series or these characters doesn’t require at least 5 hankies to perform it through. It’s a fantastic ruin to a astonishing series.

With the closing of Friends, Frasier and now Sex and the City - we truly are seeing an extinguish to an era.

This last status of episodes seemed a exiguous less on the edge and more like a setup to the last episode. That having been said, I would not have missed them for the world. The creators unexcited did a big job in providing a nice ending to each of the characters’ stories.

I agree with many of the people who posted reviews for Season 5 and Season 6 Parts 1 and 2 - HBO treats the SATC followers very shabby in (1) charging so grand for virtually half seasons (2) releasing Season 6 as two separate Beefy Note sets and (3) providing very microscopic extras in Season 6 Section 1 to compensate for the mark.

I must say, I totally savor all of the episodes with Michael Patrick King’s commentaries and I wish that he did that for EVERY episode. I also HOPE that they include the special SATC Overview note(s) (2 half hour shows that were really one expose) in the Fragment 2 DVD residence. It would also be nice to behold the Oprah point to with all the girls - but I am clear that will not be on there.

All in all - it was a big 6 years and I will savor watching them (uncut - unlike the TBS/TNT versions) forever. It is too dreadful that broadcast networks cannot steal the lead from HBO and BBC and develop Cramped Speed series that have high quality and astronomical stars that know they are only committed for a few years. Imagine the quality that we would bask in. I strongly race everyone to catch every season from 1-6 (Parts 1 AND 2) to complete your collection of one of TV’s best groundbreaking classics (cliche, I know, but honest) .
