This is one mountainous series that I have watched since I was a kid in the 70’s during it’s rerun period. The color on these episodes looks expansive! And the sound as crisp as ever.

I can Hardly wait for season 2 vol. 2 later this month!

5 stars is for bid. It’s FOX’s braindead deicision making that is Ridiculous. The fact that the UK release as well as the Japanese release feature the ENTIRE second season in one box while the US gets to be the lab rat on this “brainstorm” is ridiculous. I saw LIS season 1, selling off the shelves at Wal MArt, Sams, Costco, Target…exactly WHAT chain are they trying to lure in with these half-season sets? Dollar General and Eckerds?? It makes no sense whatsoever when the likes of Punky Brewster, Knight Rider and FOX’s acquire 24 are being released in chubby season sets. They’re experimenting and we are the ones who suffer. My advice, rep a cheap multiregion DVD player, they’re cheap these days, and assume the COMPLETE UK version, it has classy packaging as well, UNLIKE VOL one in the U.S….and it was released relieve the first week of July! Beefy season 2, and released 2 months earlier…in the UK where the fanbase is considerable smaller. Go figure.

4:3 ratio hide is very wonderful transfer. However, wide-screen isn’t really wide cloak. it’s a 4:3 shroud chopped off from top and bottom. in other word, instead of having a whole theatrical characterize, what you regain is portray that’s been chopped up both vertical and horizontally. what we are seeing is only 1/3 of what’s filmed, which is even smaller than 4:3. somebody cheated immense time from paramount. setup menu is erroneous leading. I want to view entire soar span on F-14! It does execute mountainous incompatibility on impact in fighting scene. movie this beneficial must be done good. and while at it, obtain it a anamorphic enhanced.

“Top Gun” is the mach ten 80s mega hit that location theatre attendance on fire and established producer Jerry Bruckheimer and actor Tom Flee as two of Hollywood’s king size titans, leisurely and in front of the camera. All about a military flight school rush for `the best of the best,’ the film stars Skim as Lt. Pete Maverick Mitchell. Pete’s too sexy for his leather bomber jacket and he knows it. He’s also short on pleasantries when it comes to wooing the femme fatale of the excellent skies, Charlotte `Charlie’ Blackwood (Kelly McGillis) . But high flying maneuvers between Pete and Charlie lickety-split depart from the school room to the bedroom. Then tragedy strikes and Pete has to pull it together to reveal himself as the hero of the hour. Val Kilmer costars as Pete’s annoying and priggish rival for the top honors; Tom `Iceman’ Kazanski. The cast also includes Tom Skeritt, Michael Ironside and Anthony Edwards.

What sets “Top Gun” apart from similar military film fare of the 80s is its ability to combine a sense of the miraculous within the gritty world of tougher than tough obstacles. The dog fight footage is thrilling and the place moves effortlessly from drama, to melodrama, to action/adventure legend on testosterone overdrive. There’s even a shirtless stare candy volleyball tournament thrown in, with the guys doing their machismo best to ignite interest in the female population. However, the soundtrack album, which fueled the film’s high octane performance at the box office, now seems to have dated at twice the rate of any other from the 80s - put `Dirty Dancing.’ Kenny Loggins’ `Playin’ With The Boys’ and Tina Marie’s `Lead Me On’ have that faint tinny echo of a forgotten pop culture where hoop earrings and astronomical hair were synonymous with wacky-tacky red carpet glamour. Berlin’s `Take My Breath Away’ does anything but.

After the disastrous disaster attach forth on Paramount’s `Footloose’ special editon, I didn’t occupy out mighty hope for this transfer either. However, “Top Gun’s” anamorphically enhanced transfer is remarkably smart and solid. Color saturation is very nicely rendered with velvety blacks and very pristine whites. Occasionally one will brand a minute hint of film grain. There are no digital anomalies (edge enhancement, pixelization, shiny of glorious details) for a serene video presentation that is positive to please. The audio has been remixed but continues to reveal that dated 80s quality that is best left to nostalgia for a time when sound wasn’t quite so integral to one’s overall appreciation of movie culture. Extras include an audio commentary that is adequate at best. There’s also a 6 fraction documentary that really should have been played as one spacious one, four music videos which will confound people as to why MTV became so great, and some storyboards, production materials and vintage featurettes. So location your DVD player to `cruise’ control and score ready to plot off for the wild blue yonder. “Top Gun” is a blast!

Based on Dave Stevens’ graphic modern (which was inspired by “King of the Rocketmen” a movie serial from the 40’s), this retro fantasy is a blast (pardon the pun) . Unfortunately, the DVD transfer is not so hot. Director Joe Johnston (”October Sky”, “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” and “Jurassic Park III”) does a nice job with this feature film recreating the watch of Hollywood in 1938.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Rocketeer! Click Here

Cliff Secord (Bill Campbell) and “Peevy” (Alan Arkin) have establish together a cutting edge stunt plane. During a test flight the plane is destroyed in an accident exciting the FBI and the Mob. It seems the Mob has stolen a revolutionary rocket packet designed by Howard Hughes (the expansive Terry O’Quinn) which the U.S. wants to consume for military purposes. Unfortunately, so do the Nazi’s who hired Mob kingpin Eddie Valentine (Paul Sorvino) to assume it. Secord accidently comes into possession of the rocket pack and suddenly everyone from Hollywood actor/Nazi agent Neville Sinclair (Timothy Dalton) to the FBI want to glean him and retrieve it.

This is a fun witty film of the graphic unique. The DVD transfer looks so-so. The image is frequently too shaded and there’s lots of digital artifacts (aliasing, etc.) that mar the describe. Presented in widescreen, it’s not enhanced for 16×9 sets and doesn’t appear to be an anamorphic transfer either. Why does all that matter? Because on a widescreen TV it would have enhanced and improved the record quality making it glance spirited, shiny and alive. The unique theatrical trailer is the only extra. I don’t know if Disney has any immediate plans to reissue this but if you do win it, be aware that it doesn’t see all that expansive on DVD because of the transfer by Disney.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Rocketeer! Click Here

I’m hoping that Disney will be reissuing this terrific movie because it certainly deserved it. Unfortunately, the film with its loopy charm and srong performances didn’t accept the audience it deserved and died at the box office. Disney, accept off your duff and reissue this as a two DVD Special Edition as it deserves!

The Rocketeer is one of the most toothsome action-adventure movies ever made. Everything about this film is unbelievable. Director Joe Johnson perfectly captures the glance and feel of Hollywood (or what Hollywood should ogle and feel like) during the 1930s. Titanic casting with Bill Campbell honest on target at Cliff Secord, Jennifer Connelly as his best girl, Jenny Blake, Alan Arkin as Cliff’s mentor and mechanic/inventor friend, and Timothy Dalton as the detestable Nazi spy-movie star Neville Sinclair. Like Raiders of the Lost Ark, it is a homage to the film serials of the period, but with a lot more spit and polish. The special effects are ample, the status decoration, costumes, makeup, all evoke the time and residence perfectly. A astounding script adapted from the graphic modern of the same name sets this movie apart from others in this genre. The dialogue is amusing, fleet and at sometimes enraged. Campbell plays the All-American boy with a genuine gee whiz, almost Jimmy Stewart kind of charm. The state about a secret idea by the Nazis to acquire rocket packs for an army of “Rocketeers” to pick over the world is added and abetted by Dalton as the Errol Flynn-like movie star. When a prototype rocket pack accidentally ends up in the hands of Campbell and Arkin, the action, and their troubles, really launch. This film is filled with dozens of fabulous characterizations. Some of the best are Paul Sorvino as gangster Eddie Valentine, Terry O’Quinn as Howard Hughes, and Petite Ron as Lothar. The musical glean by James Horner is outstanding. It’s bold, peaceful and moving. Why this film didn’t turn out to be the colossal blockbuster it should have been is beyond me. I appreciate Raiders of the Lost Ark, but this film matches it in almost every category. One of my current novel films, I never tire of watching it. Perfect entertainment and perfect for all ages. The Rocketeer is a steady winner.

The Resident Unsuitable series has become one of the top selling titles for video game company CAPCOM. Known in Japan as “Biohazard”, the series has sold over 34 million games and among the series, one of the most current titles was the 1996 Sony Playstation game “Resident Deplorable 2 which introduced us to the characters of Racoon City rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield (sister of “Resident Cross 1 hero Chris Redfield) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Resident Evil: Degeneration! Click Here

The two were current characters that fans enjoyed and in 2005, “Resident Immoral 4 featuring Leon Kennedy became a sizable hit earning “Game of the Year” by various publications.

With the popularity of the character of Leon Kennedy, how fitting was it when CAPCOM announced the reuniting of both Leon and Claire. As a fan of the video game series, I was definitely furious and couldn’t wait to peer the film. “resident evil: DEGENERATION” takes set seven years after “Resident Irascible 2.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

Picture quality is radiant salubrious. The film is entirely in CG and was created in Maya. The CG was well done but not as fluid as “Final Fantasy: Advent Children” but smooth looked very impressive. The rendered character models were unprejudiced large to peep at (especially at the beginning when you peek the airport or even the WilPharm HQ. Both discover very realistic!) and Leon, Claire and Angela Miller model renders were impartial very well done. If anything, there is diminutive jerkiness when it comes to a discontinuance up of a character and trying to execute it do natural and realistic movements during a conversation. But during the action scenes, the movements were very nice and overall, the CG was very well done.

If anything, fans of the video games will more than likely appreciate these CG rendered scenes.

As for audio, the audio is featured in Dolby Digital 5.1 and during the action scenes (which there are many), sound does near alive and sounds very suitable on my system. Dialogue is quite obvious. As for the music, the ending theme “Guilty” is by Japanese music artist ANNA TSUCHIYA.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The DVD features quite a few special features which include:

* The Generation of DEGENERATION featurette - This featurette interviews Makoto Kamiya and other CAPCOM staff and their goal with the film, why they traditional the sincere English speak actors in terms of the motion assume (including having them learn how to occupy a gun) and more behind-the-scenes footage on the creation of the film. Also, fan reaction at San Diego Droll Con.

* Character Profiles - Profiles feature a text blurb on each character and you can access a video or photography profile (from parts of the film) .

* Deny Bloopers - This is more or less bloopers but not distinct if it was intentionally created or if it was genuine bloopers. One featured Leon Kennedy telling the others about his “fee”. Quite laughable to contemplate.

* Faux Leon Interview - I’m not quite determined what this feature was about. A man is interviewing one of the motion seize actors and the actor is talking about working with Kamiya-san and others on the film.

* Resident Evil: Degeneration Trailers - Trailers for the film

* Resident Evil: Degeneration Tokyo Game Prove Trailer - Tokyo Game Exhibit trailer

* Resident Faulty 5 Special Game Footage - Promotional video for the upcoming Playstation “Resident Unsuitable” game.

* Resident Deplorable 5 Game Trailers - Trailers for the upcoming Playstation 3 video game.

Let me first say that I am a sizable fan of the “Resident Scandalous” series and I beget nearly all the US releases. “Resident Rotten 2 really was innovative when it first was released for the Sony Playstation and was my popular R.E. game until “Resident Detestable 4 was released and that video game was impartial fantastic.

So, that being said, watching this film had me smiling because I absolutely fancy both the characters of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. How this film furthers the storyline of the two characters but also builds on distinct situations that may have major ramifications for future video game releases is quite arresting.

So, with that being said, I enjoyed the film because the creators really wanted to pay homage to “Resident Inappropriate 2 and “Resident Despicable 4 video game series and its fans. But I realize that many people who are not familiar with the video game series are wondering how the context of this film is to the live-action film series featuring Mila Jovovich.

There is a relation by name and of course, the virus that turns people to zombies but really, this film was created for the fans of the video game series in mind.

Also, with this being a video game-related film, many who crave a deep storyline with character development of who is Claire and who is Leon may feel disappointed. The reason why video gamers who played the video games is that through those video game moments of playing these characters for hours, there was a vested interest.

I would grasp that many viewers not familiar with the video game series won’t acquire up the importance of Claire or Leon to the dependable “Resident Despicable” storyline. In fact, some may wonder why they should care about these characters especially at the kill with the politics surrounding the viruses.

So, with that being said, “resident evil: DEGENERATION” is an awesome film for those who followed the video game series. The film features plenty of non-stop action, bloody violence courtesy to the zombies and you even win a scene with blood that splatters on to the camera. But the enjoyment comes from those who had the experience of playing “Resident Dismal 2 and “Resident Horrible 4 and to leer Claire and Leon again.

The CG looks ample and there are some moments that I was objective really in dread but at the same time, there are some movements that were jerky and robotic at times. But overall, the model renders were estimable and Leon and Claire gape very generous. So, the bottom line is that this film is unprejudiced total fan service for “Resident Heinous” video game fans. So worthy that I highly recommend this DVD.

For those who are not familiar with the video game series, you may bask in it but if you are expecting a continuation of the live action films, then this DVD may not be for you. In fact, some may be disappointed because there is no strong set for them to truly be pleased these characters especially without playing the video games. So, I can understand if they don’t accept into it.

Again, if you are fans of the “Resident Injurious” video games, you can’t benefit but have a smile on your face because there is now a “Resident Faulty” film that was created with the RE video game fan in mind. And for that, I recommend this DVD for you!

I watched Degeneration in NY Dismay Film Festival. At first I didn’t seek information from a lot from this movie, cause the live action trilogy is very disappointing and I objective didn’t dare to seek information from it would be excellent, but it is. If you’re an RE fan, it’s a must-see movie. You won’t be disappointed. Luckily the movie doesn’t focus on fighting zombies too grand. It is a drama/thriller. The movie successfully combines T & G-virus storyline fans are familiar with. Although not noteworthy character development, you can delight in the myth. CG section in my thought is not as qualified as Final Fantasy. Characters’ facial expression is a exiguous stiff, and their “stares” are tiring,. Women explore like they had plastic surgery. But these are not serious problems, unprejudiced the technical parts they need to improve. Degeneration fable is worthy better than FF. After watching its premiere, I can’t wait to recall the DVD.

Blast-Off Girls, a tiny known art film that spins the web of a music promoter’s need for power, delivers in accurate Americana fashion. Finally on DVD, correct Athenian irony presents itself as a rock promoter tries to steer the career of an up and coming rock & roll band. The cane wielding promoter’s intent readily unveils itself. He merely wants control and loyalty above everything else, even above his wallet. Rumored by Guajardian literary critic Miguel Hansoo to be the work that inspired Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.” Whether that be the case or not, this film is worth viewing simply for a cameo by American fast-food icon Colonel Sanders, in which he proudly clucks “, OooEEEEEEE! We DO befriend fried chicken!” The band in the movie plays an improvised concert for Sanders in exchange for a bucket of chicken. Read into this apparent comedy relief closely though; Sanders places the bucket of chicken before the boy band whilst they play, then dances a step or two away from their performance. The Colonel may have done some ad-lib here to get a subtle declaration: that the free exchange of faded school culinary love for unique day subversive rock music results in an unbreakable union that thwarts the possible resurrection of McCarthy like tactics that nearly destroyed the huge Artisans of the USA. The contributions this underrated gem possesses is worth the label. Some may write this off as unprejudiced another B-Movie, but see closely and you will procure so mighty more.

H.G. Lewis was on quite a roll in the leisurely 60’s… In fact, he directed

11 films (!) in ‘67 and ‘68. I realize that Lewis has his fraction of

detractors. Many judge him a no talent hack who relentlessly

regurgitated disposable entertainment at a disturbingly prodigious rate

during the mid-to-late 60’s. They often bemoan the nailed-down camera

work, wooden acting, and ridiculous situations depicted on cloak.

Interestingly, these are the valid elements that originate Mr. Lewis’s films

so endearing to me…

When I observe movies, I do so for two main reasons. Either I want to be

entertained and amused; or I want be pulled out of my comfort zone, and

placed in a mental state in which I am forced to reflect about and ponder

various facets of life. This film entertains in a tall diagram. In fact,

most H.G. Lewis films never fail to entertain me and bring a substantial smile

to my face…

Mr. Lewis is best know as being the Godfather of Gore. Not many

film-goers realize that Mr. Lewis was an incredibly versatile movie

making machine; dipping into children’s films, morality tales,

hillbilly musical comedies, juvenile delinquent tales, nudies,

roughies, and other assorted ephemera…

‘Just For The Hell Of It’ is H.G. Lewis’s juvenile delinquent

masterpiece. These are some awful kids…

The film starts out with a bang, and within 45 seconds a reckless

groups of youths can be found laying extinguish to and completely trashing a

house. These abominable boys (and girl) are led by Ray Sager(as Dexter) . The

entire film is dedicated to the exploits of Dexter and company, as they

terrorize a town and it’s inhabitants. The pranks and mischief start

out relatively harmlessly (setting newspapers on fire, dousing citizens

with water, destroying laundry, trashing a restaurant), become more

bizarre and off-color (putting a baby in a trash can, beating a blind

man with his maintain cane), and of course become very malicious (gang rape

and kill) …

I really enjoyed this film quite a bit. With subsequent viewings, it

has never ceased to assign a smile on my face. I also liked that Mr. Lewis

didn’t try to account for or interpret the actions of the rowdy youth- they

did it all ‘Just For The Hell Of It’…. they did it for the kicks…

In fact, You should glimpse this highly intelligent section of nostalgia

for the same reason…

I went to perceive this movie the first weekend that it came out, and I wasn’t disappointed at all; I saw the unique play, and wasn’t greatly impressed with it, but seeing the movie, I enjoyed it very well. Kimberly Elise and Shemar Moore gave huge performances; Of course, Tyler Perry playing three roles simultaneously was objective as trustworthy and I applaud him; Cicely Tyson, of course, gave a gem of a performance helping her daughter become more stronger even though she herself has been wronged; I have heard the first-rate and the poor about this movie; I have heard that Madea is honest another stereotypical role model that we need to gain away from; But let’s be unbiased, how many of us can attest to a Madea in our family? or at least pieces of such a woman? This was one movie that sex and profanity wasn’t splashed forward and yet, the critics bashed it; Yet, I found it a ample movie, and can all of us who supported Mr Perry opening weekend be nefarious? I don’t believe so; Scrutinize forward to the DVD.

You can protest that the folks at Anchor Bay Entertainment cherish movies. It shows in every disc they release (like last years astonishing “Wrathful MONSTER PARTY” DVD) . And this unusual release of director Richard Lester’s delightfully delectable 70’s comedy/ swashbuckler’s “THE THREE MUSKETEERS” and “THE FOUR MUSKETEERS” in one 2-disc position is yet another example of their care and worship. This is a improbable release and a obedient job over the DVD’s Fox-Lorber have had on the market for the last couple of years. No one ever mentioned it (maybe nobody noticed it), but the Fox-Lorber DVD of “3 MUSKETEERS” was missing about 1 diminutive of footage in a scene between Charlton Heston and Christopher Lee. These fresh discs have the complete versions of both films and they gawk and sound mammoth! For the first time they are presented in anamorphic widescreen in their genuine aspect-ratio (paunchy conceal versions are also included but I haven’t yet viewed them so I can’t comment on them) . The extras are also very nice. Two half hour documentaries on each disc includes interviews with stars Raquel Welch, Christopher Lee, Charlton Heston, Michael York and Frank Finlay and producers Ilya Salkind and Pierre Spengler. Trailers, tv spots, radio spots, photo & poster galleries and star biographies (that are actually informative and worth reading) round out this very comely package! Catch it, witness it and relish!

Anchor Bay deserves a tall deal of credit for this informative and intelligent double feature of the two classic Musketeer films from the early 1970s.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Complete Musketeers! Click Here

Originally planned as one long tale movie (including a then standard intermission in the middle) the decision was made at some point during the production of THE THREE MUSKETEERS that they would either have one four hour movie or two separate movies. Rather than gash out some of the unbelievable scenes that had been shot to invent the movie more manageable the production company made the more sensible decision to gash the production in two releasing THE THREE MUSKETEER’ one year and then THE FOUR MUSKETEERS shortly after.

Not everyone interested in the production of the movie was elated about the decision. Actress Faye Dunaway publicly stated that (had she known about the splitting of the movie into two) she would have refused to do it since her role in the first was so tiny. The recede led to some litigation and was eventually settled but today movie contracts include what is termed “The Salkind Clause” (named after the Salkind’s who produced the MUSKETEER movies) to protect actors from such moves.

It is perhaps for this reason that Faye Dunaway is one of the only aloof living members of the main cast who does not appear on camera for the proper hour-long documentary THE SAGA OF THE MUSLETEERS that Anchor Bay has build together for this release.

Perhaps a deliberate reflection of the movie (or perhaps simply due to runt position on the DVDs) the documentary is split into two half-hour parts on each disc. Recounting their memories of the production are actors Charlton Heston, Raquel Welch, Michael York, Frank Finlay and Christopher Lee who camouflage nearly every aspect of the production from their casting to some of the finish calls and injuries the actors sustained performing their gain stunts and swordflighting with valid, very lethal swords.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Complete Musketeers! Click Here

Lee, himself an expert swordsman, had to remind a rather over enthusiatic Oliver Reed (who abandoned the staged moves for a fight for some more improvised swings) that it was “only a movie.”

Also on camera for interviews are producers Ilya Salkind and Pierre Spengler (who would both go on to create SUPERMAN) who discuss not only the proper production of the movies but also where the initial opinion came from and the recruiting of Director Richard Lester. Salkind recounts how Lester initially turned down the invitation to speak the movie, referring to it as “a children’s book” (as it was seen at the time) . It was not until Salkind actually sent him a copy of the sincere Alexandre Dumas current that Lester became indignant by the prospect of directing the adaptation.

With a screenplay by George MacDonald Fraser (of the FLASHMAN novels and later of 1983’s OCTOPUSSY) these two movies work remarkably well. Even though there are some surprising stylistic differences (surprising since it was originally meant as one movie) . The first movie is definitely more laughable in tone and the second darker and more dramatic. This is not to say the second movie is lacking in humor - objective glimpse the Musketeers eating lunch as the assume for battle with the Protestants.

Of the two I actually grasp the second movie powerful more because I feel the characters are more drawn out and the intrigue more bewitching, The climatic sword fight and Oliver Reed-Faye Dunaway subplot are both highlights in my idea. The second movie also features the hideous deaths of two of the more likeable major characters.

Overall, a extraordinary job by Anchor Bay. One can only hope that the third movie in the series, 1989’s THE RETURN OF THE MUSKETEERS which was also directed by Richard Lester and included the majority of the novel cast, will one day be released on DVD.

Well recommended.

Winona Ryder is succor from several years of lull in any highly memorable roles in major movies, and she is fair on compose with possibly her best performance yet. But that is certainly not all this movie has to offer. She plays Susannah Kaysen, an inpatient for a year at a mental hospital, who wrote the book about her trusty life anecdote on which this is based. Not only Susannah but several of the other inpatients are most memorable characters. Angelina Jolie won Best Supporting Actress for playing Lisa, a sometimes menacing and always fascinating patient there because of her anti-social personality. Other quite meomrable characters include a pathological liar who is Susannah’s usually sweet roommate, played by Clea DuVall, and the Touchy and obsessed Daisy, who will eat nothing but chicken from her father’s rotisserie, played by Brittany Murphy. Through her have struggles and interactions with the others, Susannah confronts in a memorable method some of the hot issues of the behind 1960’s, making this almost a nostalgia go as well as a riveting human drama.

Here’s a recognize inside a mental hospital that will amply entertain while it communicates a heart-rending angst impartial as compellingly. Winona Ryder plays Susanna Kaysen, an inpatient in a true-life myth who told her experiences in the institution in a book of the same title. Her contain sage is poignant but ever rivaled by that of other fellow patients. One is Georgina, Susannah’s sort-of happy-go-quirky roommate. Then there’s Daisy, a dismal and somber patient whose fable will wreck your heart. And there’s long-time resident Polly, sweet and loveable but mild a prisoner to her childhood trauma in which she status herself on fire. But stealing the explain is Lisa, played by Angelina Jolie, possibly the most absorbing of less-than-heroic movie characters since Hannibal Lecter. It is impossible not to record to Lisa and even sympathize with her somewhat, even though she is menacing and can be cruel. She traumatizes other patients, for example taunting abominable Polly and calling her “torch”. Lisa is the rush artist of the group and bonds with Susannah in surprising ways. There’s indeed some heavy stuff here. But it’s also highly watchable with humanity and sometimes humor gleaming through the tragedy.

Knowing how he filmed this and with what equipment I had very high expectations on clarity. I tested this thoroughly by conclude checking over 50 different scenes and light levels (gloomy, dismal, incandescent, motion, glorious detail, etc.) and I could not score fault in anything; The running water scenes, curious pans through trees - all of it. The colors, contrasts and light level all came across beautifully. The smaller LCD panels looked astonishing, but I even scrutinized on the larger Plasmas and it collected looked awesome. The sound has the TrueHD and English 5.1, and the mix maintains being able to crank up the volume above normal listening levels as to immerse in the sounds/music but tranquil hear the dialogue adequately.

This is the 172 slight version with the 10 fraction documentary series from the other releases included. I am very elated with this preservation so I hope that those who delight in his work will bask in this package.

MOVIE: Terrence Malick is not a mainstream director, his films while few in number, are incredibly rich with detail and visual language. Only a very few people can devour one of his films, mostly because they tend to rush longer than mainstream movies and they don’t follow the feeble formula. If you’ve seen The Thin Red Line then you know what a Terrence Malick film is. The Thin Red Line is in my belief one of the finest cinematic accomplishmensts in the war genre. The Unique World is basically Malick’s counterpart to The Thin Red Line. While The Thin Red Line was a peep into the sad nature of mankind and how we slay ourselves, The Original World is the opposite of that. This film is about the celebration of the human spirit and the wonder of life. It is a truly poetic film that uses the sage of John Smith and Pocahontas to roar this commentary. The Modern World focuses on the clash of differences between two civilizations and how in the mess of differences two people are able to connect and examine the beauty of each other. The movie moves tedious though, and there are some parts where I found the editing to be a puny confusing. Otherwise, I deem the film is an astonishing emotional poke filled with poetry and incandescent cinematic images. This film and The Thin Red Line are very similar in style. Malick even uses the same motif with birds as he does in The Thin Red Line. You also have the poetic narration of the main characters, and the narration itself can stand alone as poetry, it is truly powerful. Comely landcapes captured brilliantly with the camera, long tracking shots, and many wide shots enhance the surrounding for the audience. He also uses his “sun through the trees” shot multiple times, which I personally loved in The Thin Red Line and even former it a couple times in my projects. All the shots are accompanied by James Horner’s acceptable yet somewhat flawed accept. In my belief I plan the secure sounded exactly like his work on The Perfect Storm. I was devestated when Hans Zimmer was unruffled from the project due to scheduling problems, because it was with The Thin Red Line that Zimmer level-headed his masterpiece. Horner does a generous job in my conception, but at times I felt like it was all too similar and sometimes lacking. The characters are all wonderfully expressed as well, and the change that Pocahontas goes through basically defines the film’s central theme of change in surrounding while smooth retaining your individual personality. This film celebrates humanity and is his counterpart to The Thin Red Line, which basically shows the flaws of humanity. Watch both film if you have not already, and if you are modern to Terrence Malick please have an inaugurate mind. This man is a fantastic filmmaker, I wish he wasn’t so elusive and would actually do interviews as well do maybe more than 1 movie every decade. Then again, the fact that he has only directed 5 movies in his career since 1969 maybe is his greatest strength, and puts him on the list of top directors in the industry.

ACTING: The film is almost absent of any structural dialogue. Dialogue between characters is rare and brief yet oh so meaningful, and then there is the poetic narration. The actors do a radiant job with facial expressions and evoking the accurate emotions. Colin Farrell is substantial and plays a character who is in fancy with Pocahontas and embraces her world. Christian Bale does a astounding job as the man who falls in like with Pocahontas yet tries to produce allotment of English society. Then we have newcomer Q’Orianka Kilcher who plays Pocahontas, and does an improbable job with the role. The acting is all emotion and hardly any dialogue.

BOTTOM LINE: I talked to my parents after I saw the film, they said that people walked out of the movie at the showing they saw, which didn’t suprise me at all. I was ecstatic that no one walked out of the showing I went to. The Thin Red Line got the same response by movie goers that this one is getting. They slip in expecting an intense action drama and demolish up at a poetry reading, but you can blame decieving marketing for that. Like I said, Terrence Malick isn’t for everyone, but if you perceive it with an originate mind you will experience a truly fantastic and meaningful film.

Two immediate impressions from this 12-hour/part PBS series: (1) Harvard students receive grand instruction; and (2) the students, who signed agreements to be televised, were astonishing. In some sense, their participation almost makes this a “reality TV series.”

Philosophy Professor Michael Sandel uses the Socratic Diagram and Inform Instruction. He explores honest topics by asking students questions, drilling down and introducing additional information along the plan. Students gave sterling, thoughtful responses. To lift this entire teaching unit on camera, using many cameras for multiple angles, was bright. Of course, one must adjust their expectations of student engagement by the presence of the cameras.

The teaching methods outmoded are probably not ideal for many subjects, but for philosophy they were dynamic in the low. Surely Sandel has position the bar high for philosophy professors. This can only be ample.

The just questions he poses are not so simple and easy as one might demand. One tends to change their mind as Sandel brings in more facts. All the questions posed and respective responses elicited are traced to philosophical schools of belief and directly to renowned uninteresting philosophers most of us would observe. In this design, the history of philosophical notion is brought to life. This is a fun design to learn and this DVD space may be watched again and again.

We learn how grand we fraction values and fair principles with the body of philosophical knowledge accumulated throughout human history. Sandel points out the origin of philosophical opinion processes along this lecture chase. This feels like a painless intention to learn philosophy, and it makes it considerable easier to remember the contributions of the grand and noted philosophers (to cite some of them: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Hobbes, Locke, Hume, Rousseau, Kant, Hegel, Marx, Kiereguaard, Mill, Nietzsche, James, Russell, Wittgenstein and Rawls) .

Sandel contrasts primitive theories of justice, concerned with virtue, with fresh theories concerned with freedom. During this lecture series he demonstrates that we part beliefs about virtue. Further, he explains we mistakenly don’t apply our convictions about virtue to economics and politics. He wants good reflection to be a public endeavor and philosophers to advocate for the citizenry as Socrates did.

The implications of Sandel’s teachings are far-reaching, immediate and tangible. There are applications in contract law. For example, our society holds sacrosanct the “correct contract” but in so many cases one side was not truly free. In many instances, one party to a contract holds power and can impose a one-sided contract. Another application has to do with CEO compensation. Sandel shows how CEO compensation is certain by power, not contribution. He discusses the outrageous concentration of wealth in the U.S. Sandel wants philosophy to be archaic on economics and he asserts that the growing inequality in the U.S. undermines the solidarity that a democracy requires.

Finally, Sandel makes us aware of the hollowing out of the “public realm” on which a democratic society depends. As public services decline and our approved spaces for all but wealthy Americans deteriorate, we undermine our shared democratic citizenship.

Common spaces accessible by our democracy include public transportation, parks, schools, hospitals and health clinics, libraries, the news media and more. Grand of public life has become overly market-based and that is the main reason we lack pedestrian-friendly areas.

To be clear, Professor Sandel is impartial getting started with this 12-hour DVD series. One gets the impression he is now launching a more public career and will weigh in on many political and economic issues. I would not be surprised if he becomes vilified in the media for taking positions against the interests of the power elite.

I saw the series mentioned on the Charlie Rose Expose and was instantly arguing with the examples. I ordered the series, fired it up, and was battling with Michael Sandel in almost every example.

That level of challenge in a PBS series is rare lately. In the 80s and early 90s PBS carried complex, inspiring, programs that are no longer made today.

An gripping price, watching the series I was instantly aware of how the TV series LOST echoes the themes, conflicts, and historical characters discussed in Justice. I suspect that someone on the LOST writers team took this course.

Well done.
