Well, they did it. Full Moon actually released a good movie besides The Puppet Master series and a couple of others. This one is a masterful horror video that focuses on about ten teens that go to an abandoned hospital to shoot their first horror movie. But when the kids find a real body, they want to use it in the movie. The figure, “Whoa, a real corpse! How cool!” How wrong they are. Excellent in the scare factor and gore. This is my second favorite zombie movie next to Return of the Living Dead. Any horror fan will eat up the nods to other horror movies ( Like the bumper sticker that says “FULCI LIVES!” ) Buy this immediately, any true horror fan will not be disappointed.

Some people are being way too harsh on this movie. I’m giving it 5 starts becuase it deserves a better rating that it has. Sure the acting wasn’t oscar material but so what. It’s still alot better than children of the living dead and the god awful house of the dead. And to the comment one moron made about the main badguy being a rob zombie rip off: 1) they had originally wanted rob to play the part but he was busy and 2) i guess everybody else with long dark hair and a beard is a rob zombie rip off too. Get over yourself. The special effects were decent and the nods to horror fans were cool as well. The premise, people filming a zombie moving being attacked by the real thing, hasn’t been done before either to my knowledge. Give this movie a chance and don’t listen to these people giving it 1 star because it at least deserves a 2 1/2- 4.

The jokes coast at you about every second petite, so if you don’t like one, objective wait for the next! I guarantee you will laugh out loud several times and give your tummy muscles a estimable workout in doing so.

Carry is a genius in facial expressions that will tie your droll bone in knots. His physical comedy ranks with that of Lucille Ball. Carry establishes his comedic “star” in this flick.

I don’t judge I’ve ever laughed sp hard in a movie theater before in my life. That’s something that I impartial don’t do mighty of. This movie changed that. Now, this kind of comedy is an acquired taste. Not everyone is going to accept it or like it or the lustrous talent of Jim Carrey. Calling it wearisome is not bashing the movie, it’s only praising it. Secure it? . Carrey stars as a pet detective hired by pre - “Friends” star Courteney Cox to come by who stole the local football team’s mascot. Sean Young is in on the fun as the police captain. It takes trusty smarts and talent to do what Jim Carrey does. It’s not honest acting goofy and humorous. Some people don’t rep things. This is an uproarious film. If your in a abominable mood or funk or whatever, and you need your sppirits lifted with ridiculous laughs, then you can’t go unsuitable with this movie.

Two things killed this movie at the box office when it was first released: first, its title. Americans didn’t seem to know what a “proxy” was, much less a hudsucking one. The second was its time of release. The movie came out in May as an early summer release but was actually a movie that would have been better received at Christmas. “Jaws” is a prototypical summer film. “It’s A Wonderful Life,” by comparison, would hardly be a summer blockbuster but sets the perfect tone for the holiday season. Come back in twenty years and you will find that “The Hudsucker Proxy” IS the Frank Capra classic for a new generation. It is Capra meets “Metropolis” blended with the smart humor of the Coens. The casting is near perfect. Tim Robbins is the naive and goofy savant. Paul Newman is as wonderful a villain as you will find as the evil Sidney Mussberger. Only Jennifer Jason Leigh takes a bit of getting used to as the tough talking reporter but she will move you by movie’s end. I’ve had to beg, plead, wheedle and cajole my friends through the years to watch this movie and not let themselves be turned off by its title. Thus far it’s left no one disappointed.

The movie’s middle third is unbelievably funny, and Jennifer Jason Leigh is perfect. Buscemi shows up briefly during a scene at the Beatnik bar. The DVD isn’t of great quality, though. The first hint comes from the fact that “Ethan” (as in “Coen”) is spelled “Ethen” in the jewel case’s blurb. As soon as you begin watching, you’ll notice the graininess in the opening shots, and some jaggies during a pan from Tim Robbins on the ledge. The DVD is ok from then on, until you get to the dancing sequence with the white background. So, the disc is a hack job (maybe that explains the low price, too), but the movie is so well done you can overlook it for all but about 10 seconds.

This film is a throwback to those old 50’s horror films that had classic monsters doing battle with each other coupled with the wit of the 60’s era all combined with the thrills and special effects of today’s films.

Entertainment rarely gets better than this. Now stop laughing at my five stars for this kind of film. This isn’t the five stars you would give a film like Platoon or The Painted Veil. It’s more like the five stars you would you give a film like Aliens or Die Hard. This is fun, thrilling, and engaging entertainment. It’s simple popcorn fun that the whole family, for the most part, can enjoy. The CGI can be a little over-the-top, but it is still excellently done and doesn’t get in the way of the story.

The film has engaging actors who, while playing their roles with some seriousness, you can tell that it is all tongue-in-cheek and one expects them to wink at the camera at any time. Hugh Jackman certainly carries the film with great charm and coolness that reminds one of Ford’s Indiana Jones. Kate Beckinsale is great as his reluctant partner and just looks dang sexy in this role that brings to mind her Underworld character. She just sizzles on the screen. In addition, excellent support is rendered by David Wenham, most known for his roles in 300 and The Lord of the Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy, Richard Roxburgh of Stealth, Kevin J. O’Conner from The Mummy, and Robbie Coltrane who is best known as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films.

The direction is confidently done and unobtrusive. He combines action and horror very effectively. The photography is appropriately creepy and atmospheric. The set designs are elaborate and the score is compelling. The entire film is excellently produced and is what I call a high octane film. This film gets you running on all cylinders. Watch it and have a blast enjoying it for the kind of entertainment it is.

The film is thrilling and suspenseful with the various classic creature battling each other and at times forming uneasy alliances. This is just old fashioned witty and enjoyable entertainment. The repeat value of this film is what also makes this film worthy of a place in your DVD collection.

All said and done, this film is a tremendous amount of fun. Director Stephen Sommers takes the stuff of our favorite fictional monsters and blends them together to create a highly imaginative reconstruction of the story of Dracula. Resemblances to Bram Stoker’s original tale are entirely accidental. Instead we find Dracula (Richard Roxburgh) using with Dr. Frankenstein (Samuel West) to serve some dark and nefarious purpose. Not very far in the background is a werewolf (Will Kemp) who carries part of the answer to the puzzle - when he isn’t trying to chew a hole in Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman).

Kate Beckinsale plays Anna Valerious, the last living member of her family, who have been dedicated to exterminating Dracula for some 400 years. Thanks to an oath of her forefathers, the Valerious line is condemned to purgatory as long as Dracula wanders the night. Concerned that this curse is about to become permanent, a secret order of the Catholic Church sends in their best occult assassin - Van Helsing - aided reluctantly by Friar Carl (David Wenham), who plays the mad inventor to Van Helsing’s athletic efforts. Gabriel shows up to help Anna, is promptly rebuffed by the woman, whose mind is definitely her own. But the action goes ballistic, and no one gets time to be banished or stomp off.

And of action, special effects, stunts. and computer graphics there is a great muchness. Most of which looks just believable enough to keep the audience staring open mouthed at the screen. An outstanding job is done with Dracula’s wives (Elena Anaya, Silvia Colloca, and Josie Maran) and the Frankenstein monster (Shuler Hensley). So good that these characters very nearly steal the entire show. Sets are equally carefully crafted, with a marvelous medieval town and two whole gothic castles. The visual impression of the film often completely overwhelms the story.

The acting is bright, with a slightly crude, sarcastic style of interplay between the characters. The overall touch is comedic, despite the inevitable sour grapes of the ending. Don’t look for greatness here. The point is to create an exciting, fun experience, not to recreate the dark and brooding spirit behind the originals. Sommers does well with this tongue-in-cheek, cut-and-run style and Van Helsing proves this once again

This is a review for the blu-ray version of this Dim Conceal movie. I was really looking forward to this movie coming out on blu-ray and was very disappointed in it when I finally got the chance to search for it. I loved this movie when it came out on dvd with its “campy” storyline and martial arts action. This blu-ray version is barely an improvement over the dvd. I watched this on a PS3 system and hdtv with an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver and a decent situation of surround sound speakers so I was able to seize advantage of the 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio soundtrack available on the disc. The video was very “grainy” looking and barely looked “cleaned up” at all. I achieve in my standard dvd version of this movie and could hardly gape any disagreement at all between the two. The sound wasn’t mighty of an improvement either. The background music sounded splendid flat throughout the movie and the only improvements were in the explosions and some of the higher action sequences. Whoever did the blu-ray transfer of this film really “dropped the ball” on this one. As far as the movie itself, if you have never seen it, you are in for a treat and a fun poke with this one. For those of you who have seen the movie and were looking for a high-quality upgrade, I would recommend renting it first to survey how you like it before shelling out the bucks to select a copy.

Great film,though the transfer reflects the period.

Its heavenly true to how the film looked in the Chinese Cinema

where I worked a few years ago.

A lot of the Chinese Hong Kong films were badley proccessed,especially the cheaper Production Companys.

The print is quite racy and looks better on Bluray than the standard release

Apart from the slightly soft, washed-out picture quality during the opening credits of the movie, the DVD edition of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA is superb. The movie itself is spread onto 2 discs, with the disc break occurs just before Intermission. The Overture, Intermission, and the exit music are all played to a black screen, as per director David Lean’s original wish. The picture quality looks as fresh and clean as, quite frankly, any film made in the 90s. In the dramatic shot where Lawrence appears on the far horizon after he rescued his Arab companion, the higher picture resolution of DVD makes it possible for us to notice his tiny figure whereas on VHS tapes or laserdisc it is so small it is almost impossible to see. Anyone who is serious about watching this film should get this DVD instead of any other version in order to appreciate the opulent cinematography and majestic atmosphere of this epic.

The disc has over 100 minutes of old and new documentaries and news footage about the making of the film, plus two well-designed DVD-ROM features (for Windows PC only): a interactive map showing the various journeys undertaken by the real T.E. Lawrence, and a “split-screen” feature that simultaneously plays the movie and shows you text of behind-of-scene information of the particular chapter of the movie that is playing. Since the DVD lacks a second audio commentary, being able to watch the film while reading facts about it is not a bad substitute.

The included “booklet” is a reproduction of the 1961 program given to theater goers, we are told. A nice touch: the disc case resembles Lawrence’s diary in the movie.

It is unsurprising to me that some people find Lawrence of Arabia boring. If you have the attention span of a hummingbird, this is not a film you will enjoy. It has no car chases, no bikini-clad supermodels, and nary a kung-fu move to be seen. Instead, all it offers is tortured respect for everything it touches. Lawrence of Arabia is a film that elevated the art of cinematic storytelling to new heights, and it shows. It is the journey, not the destination, that the viewer should focus on. In order to enjoy this film, you must make a commitment to watch it. Get comfortable, have something to drink on hand (you’ll know why about halfway through), turn off the phone, and put the remote under a pillow. I’ve seen a lot of films, and some I’ve liked to varying degrees, and others I’ve simply been satisfied that Hollywood didn’t butcher the underlying work or premise too badly in pursuit of the lowest common denominator. Lawrence of Arabia is different. It is one of those truly rare films that makes you feel grateful for having seen it, for the efforts of all those involved to craft, create, and perserve over the years just so you might have the chance to see it. It is such a fine film that its merits are obvious, and negative statements about it tend to simply reflect back on the critic.

Why? Many reasons. The actors are likewise gifted with rare talent, and superbly cast. The settings and scenes are invariably breathtaking. The plot is engrossing and entertaining without ever becoming heavy-handed. Film students will while away hours discussing everything from the Christ imagery to the undercurrents of homoeroticism, but they do that with every film. I suggest you simply kick back and enjoy an excellent, time-honored epic about a stranger in a strange land. It is a harrowing, draining journey, but one you will not regret.

Sylvester Stallone can act. There. I said it. And as ridiculous as that statement may appear to some readers, you really do owe it to yourself to take a look at “Cop Land,” and see just how good of an actor Sylvester can be!

Who would believe that Stallone could appear on the same screen as Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, and Robert De Niro, and hold his own? Certainly not this viewer, and I admit that when I originally went to see the film it was BECAUSE of Keitel, Liotta, and De Niro. So you can imagine just how surprised I was that Stallone wasn’t blasted off the screen by the combined talent of his heavyweight co-stars.

Stallone plays “Sheriff Freddy Heflin,” the law in the small, New Jersey town of Garrison, just across the George Washington Bridge. What makes Garrison special is that a large percentage of the residents are cops who work the other side of the bridge; hence the nick-name of “Cop Land.” There are very few burglaries in Garrison, in fact, there is very little CRIME in Garrison period, so Freddy’s days seem to be an endless round of completing paperwork for littering violations, cautioning the occasional drunk, and rescuing children’s soft toys from being run over in the road.

This is a shame, because Freddy wants to be a REAL cop, he wants to work the other side of the bridge, but an injury sustained when he saved a women who’s car ended up in the river has left him deaf in one ear. Poor Freddy would never pass the physical, but the town showed its appreciation by allowing him to be the Sheriff… kind-of a consolation prize.

But all is not well, there’s something rotten in the town of Garrison, a corruption that’s eating at the towns soul, and this corruption is personified in the character of “Ray Donlan,” played by Keitel. When a fellow cop is involved in a questionable double homicide, Donlan initiates a cover-up that will have explosive consequences for the quiet town of Garrison, but especially for himself and Sheriff Heflin. The fall-out will also engulf the Sheriff’s best friend, “Gary Figgis,” played by Ray Liotta, another “real” cop, but one who’s sick of the corruption and is getting out. Also involved is IAD staffer “Lt. Moe Tilden,” played by De Niro, who’s been tracking Donlan and his team, and is determined to bring them down.

This is an excellent ensemble cast that really shines in their roles, and Stallone, as I said before, is a revelation. He piled on about 40lbs to play the part, so what we see is not the pumped-up, testosterone driven action man we have come to know and love, but a quieter, humbler, slightly “slow,” kind-a bumbling character. Sad and ineffectual, he’s barely tolerated by Donlan and his cronies, who’s company he so desperately wants to keep.

The story is tight and economical, the dialogue has the ring of authenticity to it, and there’s a bitter-sweet romantic sub-plot between Freddy and one of the town’s residents that works perfectly within the story. There’s a scene where he’s asked, by the woman he secretly loves, why he didn’t marry, “All the best girls were taken,” he replies, and you can practically see the big guy’s heart breaking in two!

Don’t be put off because Stallone has top billing, this is an excellent film that works on many levels, with a clutch of superbly realistic performances driven by a well constructed story, I would recommend it highly.

Cop Land is a homage to police corruption films like Sidney Lumet’s Serpico and Prince of the City. In many respects, Cop Land is also a modern western, complete with a High Noon-style showdown. Miramax previously released this film on a movie-only DVD. This new version is a huge improvement but is it worth the upgrade?

Definitely.

“Cop Land: The Making of an Urban Western” is an excellent retrospective featurette. Stallone to be interested in the role but the actor wanted to something different, to go back to his starving actor roots. After him, came De Niro and then everyone else followed.

Next, there is a “Storyboard Comparison” that allows one to watch part of the film’s climatic shoot-out simultaneously with the storyboards for it.

There are two deleted scenes with optional commentary.

Rounding out the extras is a solid audio commentary with director James Mangold, producer Cathy Konrad and actors Sylvester Stallone and Robert Patrick. Not surprisingly, Mangold and Stallone dominate this track. Stallone comes across as a very humble and gracious guy. Mangold keeps everyone talking, acting as an informal moderator and asking everyone questions. This is a really good track and definitely worth a listen if you’re a fan of this movie.

Cop Land features a killer cast and allows them to flex their acting chops with a top-notch screenplay. This DVD is a definite improvement over the previous bare bones edition and is worth the upgrade. Miramax has finally done this film justice with an excellent special edition.

This is an capable anime. Awesome character development is enthusiastic. Fable is astounding! Its not your typical girl from another world anime. your on the edge of your seat the whole time! Its 45 eps long but its tranquil not enough i wanted more. saying that though doesn’t mean it ends on a cliffhanger. The reveal in the slay wraps up very well and your left jubilant with the ending. Any anime fan would like this series and wont be left disappointed. Highly recommend it.

This was some of the best myth telling I have ever heard or seen in an Anime Series.

There are many little stories and a few larger ones but they are all connected.

The main legend ends on the second to last disc of the second season. If you continue to the very last disc of the second season there is a flash attend narrative that was tall and not what you’d request as a lead-out. This record had a friendly message and I felt wrapped up the collection nicely.

Peter Berg’s “Hancock” puts a refreshing new spin on the superhero genre by keeping a majority of the conflict within. The title character fights his share of bad guys, but it’s his own struggle for identity that takes center stage, a struggle that would be relatable were it not for his super-strength powers. As a man who can’t remember his real name or even where he came from, Hancock may actually be worse off than Bruce Wayne; despite emotional scarring from a painful past, at least he’s always known who he is. Hancock has been given powers without knowing why, and because of that, he has no idea how to use them. He’s the superhero no one wants to be saved by, a lonely, miserable, self-destructive man who can’t get along with anyone. As the film progresses, we wait for that climactic moment when this character is finally given the chance to redeem himself.

As interesting as this character is, “Hancock” is not everything it could have been. This is mostly due to a gigantic plot twist that I wouldn’t dream of describing, not even in vague terms. All I can say is that it’s outlandish, implausible, and underdeveloped, not what one would expect from a small scale, character driven superhero film. Strangely enough, it feels the most like a comic book when the secret is revealed, which would have been fine if the entire film had gone in the same direction. But it didn’t; “Hancock” starts off subtly by satirizing the very concept of superheroes, from the way the act to how they look to why they’re compelled to save the day in the first place. The film opens with a high-speed chase on a Los Angeles highway, one that involves heavy gunfire. Hancock (Will Smith) doesn’t know what’s going on because he’s passed out on a sidewalk bench, drunk as a skunk; a boy no older than six has to wake him up and tell him that the bad guys are getting away.

We quickly learn that, while Hancock has stopped a fair number of violent criminals, he still does a lot more harm than good. Whenever he flies, his takeoffs and landings leave gaping holes in the concrete. He damages buildings and destroys cars. He’s provoked far too easily, especially when he’s being called a specific dirty name. He drinks far too much. He’s antisocial, apathetic, and angry, not helped by the fact that no one praises him for the lowered crime rate. Then he saves the life of Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), a down-on-his-luck public relations professional; to show his gratitude, he decides to help Hancock reestablish his image. The first step is responding to an outstanding arrest warrant and actually spending time in jail. Ray believes this will give the impression that Hancock is willing to improve. He also believes that, since the crime rate will increase, Hancock will be released much earlier than usual.

I won’t get into the specifics of how long Hancock stays in jail and what happens in that time, but rest assured that he’s eventually released and given a second chance. As he desperately tries to make sense of himself, Hancock gets closer to Ray and his family. The young son, Aaron (Jae Head), almost treats Hancock like his best friend, always so excited around him, always wanting to share toys and talk about trivial things. The wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), is always suspicious around Hancock; she’s distant, cold, and short-winded whenever he’s near her. I won’t say whether or not there’s a reason for this, but I will say that by the time everything is explained, we’re left with more questions than answers.

That’s about as much of the plot I can describe without spoiling anything. The best I can say at this point is to go see the film and find out what I couldn’t describe. “Hancock” is worth seeing, even if the plot strays from itself a few too many times. There’s a moment when the city is attacked by freak weather (which includes snow and multiple tornadoes), and I couldn’t help but believe it was only for the sake of showing cool visual effects. I suppose that could be interpreted as satire, since visual effects are the very heart and soul of the average superhero film. The thing is, “Hancock” is not average–it brings something original to the genre, something modern and lively and (to some extent) realistic. When you get your first look at Hancock, you see not a sterile do-gooder like Superman but a filthy vagrant, with all the sadness in the world swimming in his bloodshot eyes. He’s just plain pathetic.

While Ray’s goal is for Hancock to make peace with the public, the film’s goal is for Hancock to make peace with himself. Even after tossing a young French bully hundreds of feet into the air and catching him just before he hits the ground, we sense that Hancock is more misunderstood than anything else. He’s deeply flawed, but that doesn’t mean he’s unwilling to change. If the plot of “Hancock” were at the same developmental level as the main character, it would be one of the decade’s most thought provoking superhero films, right up there with this year’s “Iron Man.” Unfortunately, it isn’t; it loses itself to a crafty plot twist, and the explanations that go along with it are impossible to accept. Nevertheless, the inner struggle of the title character made this movie worthwhile, as did the special effects and the satirical manipulation of the superhero genre.

Short Attention Span Summary (SASS):

1. Boozy hero with amnesia spends his time wrecking LA while perfecting his “drunken master” crime fighting technique

2. His career is put in check after a train wreck

3. After fighting crime, he does the time

4. He gets time off for good behavior, and lends a hand to foil a bank robbery

5. He soon learns that attraction can be fatal

6. Action picks up at expense of plot

7. Action cools down at expense of plot

Will Smith’s traditional summer blockbuster hero busts a lot more than a few blocks, but the movie winds up a little short of super.

The special effects are outstanding, but Jason Bateman’s performance is average, Charlize Theron doesn’t try very hard, and the title role seems more suited to some other actor rather than a proven summer-hit mega star like Smith. In the second half in particular, “Hancock” sometimes seems more like a Nicholas Cage role, which should tell you what I thought of it.

Still, Smith makes the movie worth watching, if only for the great first half, that tight black costume and the aforementioned special effects.

In summary: Super Smith, not so super story, superb stunts.

I’ve read some of the worse reviews here and frankly I’m tired of those people who expect every animated film that comes out to live up to the adult-friendly nature of Shrek or The Incredibles. If you want that kind of film then by all means go put your Shrek, Shrek II or whatever you love the most in the DVD player and watch it over and over again because you’ll never be happy with anything else.

The animation here is actually quite good, the plot is simple and easy to understand: young go-getter wants to make good for his country and he and a motley crew of fellow homing pigeons go to enemy lines to retrieve information that can change the outcome of the war. Yes it’s formulaic and easy to predict what will happen, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless.

Ewan McGregor is a little vocally hyper but acceptable as the pipsqueeky, small-in-stature but but tall-in-character Valiant. John Cleese does his usual brilliant, dry British humor shtick as a senior homing pigeon caught behind enemy lines. Tim Curry hams it up as usual as the evil ring-leader falcon. But my favorite characters were the highbrow, putting-on-airs humor of Hugh Laurie’s Lofty and Ricky Gervais’ hilarious, ill-bred but heart-of-gold Bugsy. I really laughed out loud with their lines, more than any other point in the movie.

I read a review elsewhere that says this film is aimed more at “older folks” and spoofs WWII movies of years gone by, but my 3-year old daughter loves this film!

And some have said it’s too short, but I think it’s the perfect length for youngsters to watch. Having seen it about 20 times in the last two weeks I’m not bored with it at all.

I enjoy the cultural references to England and the WWII era, and I also appreciate that, in a way, this is exposing my kids, young as they are, to a very important time in our history. Perhaps someday they will correlate their history lessons with this film and something will gel because of seeing this version of history, because the fact is, homing pigeons were really used in WWII.

I don’t really understand the lukewarm reaction to this film, as I found Valiant to be an excellent animated film. The story is both interesting and compelling, the voice actors do a great job, there’s plenty of comedy from start to finish, and I thought the animation itself was quite good. There’s too much emphasis these days on high-tech, fancy animation - sure, it can be very cool, but a cartoon with a good story and wonderful characters doesn’t need the fanciest new animation. In fact, a good story can get lost in too much CGI wizardry, and I for one like a more traditional look. I don’t mean to say the animation here is simplistic because it’s not; it’s just not as fancy as some viewers apparently wanted it to be. This isn’t The Matrix; it’s a movie-length cartoon.

The setting is 1944. With World War II still raging, the Royal Air Force Homing Pigeon Brigade, having suffered extensive losses delivering important messages to and from enemy lines, is looking for a few good pigeons. Valiant (voiced wonderfully by Ewan McGregor) is determined to leave the nest and prove himself, especially if it means serving alongside heroes such as the celebrated Gutsy (Hugh Laurie). No one thinks he can make it (he’s not even “yea” high, for one thing), but he’s determined to prove everyone wrong and do his part in the fight for freedom. Arriving in London, he meets up with a smelly old con pigeon named Bugsy (Ricky Gervais), who sort of accidentally signs up for service alongside him. They both fit right in to the band of misfits who make up Squadron F (Lofty, the intellectual, blue-blood and two brothers sporting more brawn than brain). Unfortunately, it falls to this lot - even before their training is complete - to take on the mission that, if successful, may well win the war for the Allies. It will be highly dangerous, though, as they must avoid the enemy’s deadly falcons, led by the formidable Von Talon (Tim Curry).

Is it predictable? Yes, of course it is. It’s a family-friendly, G-rated cartoon, after all. Any young child can understand the story. The only problem I had with the film was its rather short running time of 76 minutes. The big scenes at the end do feel a tad rushed, and one can only wonder why they couldn’t add in a few more minutes to round things off a little more effectively. This, however, is a small complaint on my part, as I found this movie immensely entertaining.

I was especially pleased by the note at the end of the film acknowledging the important contribution different animals actually did perform in World War II - especially carrier pigeons, who won 24 Dickens Medals for their heroic service. I would encourage Valiant fans to read a little about such avian heroes as GI Joe, who saved the British forces occupying an Italian town from American bombing, Cher Ami, who (despite being shot in both the chest and the leg) delivered a message that saved forces trapped behind enemy lines from devastating friendly fire, and many other unsung non-human war heroes.
