Season 1 - Volume 1: He-man & the Masters of the Universe! The classic 80s cartoon FINALLY arrives with all its memorable characters, stories & fantasy, digitally remastered with extras! The hit cartoon adventure series brought to life the adventures of Prince Adam & his alter-ego, the remarkable He-Man battling the sinful Skeletor to protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull. Son of King Randor and Queen Marlena of Eternia, his faithful sidekick was the cowardly green & orange pet tiger, Cringer. “By the power of Grayskull!” Adam’s wail in times of distress, together with his magical ‘Sword Of Power’ transformed them into the distinguished He-Man and the ferocious tiger, Battle Cat. Aided by Man-At-Arms, Duncan (the slightly older scientist and Adam’s mentor), his adopted daughter Teela (Captain of the Guards and Prince Adam’s aide), the quirky & droll Orko (the minute floating magician) & Ram Man (kind hearted, but tedious “human battering ram”) with his winged ally Stratos, the team faced the forces of horrible. The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull entrusted Prince Adam with the Sword of Power to defend the comely kingdom of Eternia and Grayskull - said to beget the powers to rule the entire universe.

Heading the forces of darkness was Skeletor, the base hooded skull face, residing on the dim side of the planet in his much fortress, Snake Mountain. While the savage, dim-witted Beast Man, who possessed telepathic control over many animals was his accurate hand; it was Evil-Lyn, the incredibly shrewd witch who played on Skeletor’s troop for sheer convenience, only to take power for herself at the fair moment. The cyborg-like Trap Jaw, aquatic warlord Mer-Man, and the three-eyed, pan-visioned Tri-Klops completed Skeletors army.

The exhibit ran for two seasons, of 65 episodes each - hence the DVD release of each season has been split into 2 Volumes each, over the next 2 years. Initially, many of the stories keep our heroes against Skeletor, revolving around Castle Grayskull. As the series grew the adventures took them to many different locations and foes, often putting characters on both sides of the battle. Sometimes criticized for being too murky & violent for its time, this claim seems a minute redundant in today’s age of children’s graphic animation. Particularly note-worthy is that each episode ended with one or two of the characters presenting a correct from that episode’s chronicle - the consequences of thoughts & actions, which makes the series particularly relevant given the times we live in. For fans of the expose - its a tremendous chance to relive those golden moments of childhood, & hopefully it will start the door to a whole recent generation of fans, adults & kids. Why this unfriendly statement??? Originally cartoons were shown on Saturday morning only. He-Man was the first reveal to be syndicated through a network other than the broad 3 (ABC, NBC and CBS) . What this meant was that an episode was shown every afternoon instead of honest on Saturday mornings. Wow… 65 episodes were made per year instead of only 13 that were normally produced for a typical Saturday display and this made for an fabulous following. Who didn’t contemplate this indicate? Even parents would comment about it when they asked what I did for a living and I mentioned I was an animator on He-Man. This was one of the last shows done entirely in the U.S. as most of the animation work was being sent overseas by the early 80’s. Lou Scheimer was the founder of Filmation Studios and made a bid to support the work in the U.S. and was correct to his word until it became impossible to compete with the wages being paid overseas and, sadly, the studio closed in ‘86 but not until after the successful runs of He-Man, She-Ra, Ghostbusters and the final series Bravestar. My memories working at Filmation are some of the best I have of my 25+ years in the animation industry. He-Man changed the design cartoons would be viewed forever… this is a must have situation!!!! Lets hope they determine to release some of the other memorable entertaining shows created at Filmation Studios.

“Grim Or Gregory” - A case of unsuitable identity on Halloween night has Grim confused with another kid in a reaper costume!

“Beasts and Barbarians” - A major inspiration to the video game, Grim transports the kids into another dimension where they battle bigger-than-life monsters in order to cure their gaming addictions.

“Hoss Delgado: Spectral Exterminator” - The first appearance of this tough guy who discovers and attempts on capturing the Grim Reaper.

“To Eris Human” - Introducing the sexy Goddess of Chaos, Eris, who takes Mandy as her minion leaving Grim feeling rather dumped.

“Toadblatt’s School of Sorcery” - The first “Harry Potter” parody episode with its unique magic and other peculiar creatures. ‘Nuff said.

“Brown Dismal” - A two-parter where Billy cooks up some brownies that attracts a humongous horde of zombies! It’s up to Hoss Delgado to finish them.

“Creating Chaos” - One of the funniest episodes, Eris now recruits Billy to spread her chaos upon the globe. Unfortunately, Billy himself is a shrimp more chaotic than her magic apple can do.

“Tween Wolf” - The hapless Irwin transforms into a werewolf which Billy adopts as his novel pet.

“Savor Is EVOL Spelled Backwards” - Nergal returns and attempts to marry Billy’s Aunt Sis. Let’s honest hope Billy doesn’t have that freak as his uncle.

This current state has an overload of bonus features like a commentary and an interview with series creator Maxwell Atoms, plus the “Brains” music video as seen in the classic episode “Puny Rock of Horrors”. The weirdest special features in the second disc include an episode in “Burp-O-Rama” and a virtual pet Mr. Snuggles. Perhaps the best bonus feature of all in the plot is the 2 “Injurious Con Carne” bonus episodes with optional “Skarr-O-Vision” feature. (I wish, however, they set in ALL of the “Substandard Con Carne” episodes in the place. Then we can have “Grim and Heinous” again!)

So if you’ve been waiting for this place to reach by, earn it while you unexcited can. One thing’s for positive, this is one series that will let you explore Death in the leer… and laugh staunch hard. I really REALLY hope the rest of the “Billy and Mandy” series will be effect on DVD proper soon. But in the meantime, scrutinize for brand-new “Grim Adventures” episodes Friday nights on Cartoon Network’s all-new “Fried Dynamite” block.

I am in calc 3 accurate now, and have been using this video concurrently with the course, every step of the design. Its broad to be able to arrive home, pop in the dvd and basically rewatch what you learned in school that day.

Several sections on disk 2 have really helped me come by through some sticky areas… Line Integrals I would’ve absolutely bombed without this dvd… and the portion on Greens theorem saved me as well… If you are having any issues in class, or better yet starting calc 3 next semester - GRAB THESE DVD’s! You will not be dissappointed!

This DVD series is an advantageous succor for Precalculus and Calculus. Is this the accurate choice for you, though? You must mediate whether or not you want to learn Calculus or be entertained. The presenter is not very captivating - not dreary, but hey, he’s trying to prove Calculus. Many videos are objective a runt less expensive but for 30 dinky to one hour of instruction. These videos provide 10-14 hours of instruction. So $ for $ I found these extremely superior compared to others.

If you do not have the option of video-recording your professor or having access to other on-line Calculus video lectures, this is a vast supplement for the serious student who can ignore the speaker continually saying “ok” (a bit annoying - 30 times per hour) and who doesn’t mind this being like a videotaped lecture.

The presentation of the topics is usually ravishing obvious. It’s enormous being able to rewind sections. I even occasionally ran the DVD at 1.5 and 2X hasten to salvage through review sections faster.

Hopefully in the next several years there will be enough of these presentations on line for free by various professors - but if you’re taking calculus now then go for this one today.

I deem if everyone would terminate referring to the Wes Anderson movies as comedies we would all be better off. “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” is not about making the audience laugh. Yes, there are times you will laugh, but there are also times you will cringe, and there are other moments for impartial about everything else. What kind of movie is it? It really isn’t something that can be given a single effect. Yes, there are all kinds of jokes, but aren’t they in the service of something more than simple laughs? Hearing David Bowie songs in Portuguese with an acoustic guitar is not only humorous, it is kind of splendid.

A simple joke is the name of Zissou’s ship. The Belefonte is clearly a play on Cousteau’s Calypso as are the crew’s red knit caps. However, some of the humor is quite tough. Judge of the scene with Jeff Goldblum’s Alistair Hennessy playing cards with his pirate captors as Steve Zissou comes in the room. What follows is comic, but grim at the same time. Then there is the exclusive contrivance the inside of the boat is portrayed in a cutaway situation that looks groundless and is meant to peep fallacious. Gawk that the science room is the smallest room on this research vessel. The Sauna is considerable bigger and all the rooms given over to film production constitute most of the ship.

This movie has a lot of fun with the artificial in documentaries and films. Even the scenes of creatures of the sea are often CGI creations that don’t even try to see valid. Heck, even the colors in the Zissou documentaries are supersaturated and observe like they were done in different colors of ink rather than the ocean. How steady is life when you are more concerned about getting everything shot with the moral sound rather than living it? And how legitimate can a documentary be when it is cobbled together from a lot of staged shots and hosted by someone who really doesn’t have a clue about the science late what is being filmed?

All of the lead actors are terrific and Bill Murray leads the method as the weary and fading Steve Zissou. Everyone interested with Zissou has their gain downward arc. Even the equipment is primitive and barely works. Tired helicopters are unsafe things.

Does the movie work? Maybe not. However, I catch so noteworthy to peruse and appreciate in each scene - even honest the actions of the non-speaking characters - that I really enjoyed this movie. If you want to eye something strangely fair, that plays with all kinds of notions of what is valid and what is false and has a lot of fun along the draw, this might be something you would bask in, although it is not for children.

I guess the kind of send up it is, even of Moby Dick, can be captured by then slay title that expresses “gratitude to the Jacques Cousteau Society even though they had nothing to do with the making of the film.” I like this kind of thing. Maybe you do to.

Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums) is sowing some of his more artificial and creative wild oats in his latest, “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.” I mean stop-motion clay bewitching sea horses and other assorted sea creatures? As well as a third wall removed dwelling of Zissou’s (Bill Murray) ship in which Anderson films the scenes there as if they were acts in a stage play?

It’s queer, unusual…and I’ve got to admit magnificent amazing.

Bill Murray plays Steve Zissou: a Jacques Cousteau sort of Sea Adventurer who, at the film’s beginning, is down on his luck and has objective lost a best friend to a so-called Jaguar Shark. One of the film’s funniest scenes comes approach the beginning when Zissou, in a conference swears to earn even with the shark by finding and murdering it to avenge the death of his friend.

Owen Wilson is also on hand as Ned: a man who claims to be Zissou’s son and once again we have this recurring theme in Anderson’s work about lost, then regained fathers so prevalent in “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

With a film so pudgy of artifice, snotty-yet-funny wit and the king and queen of deadpan, Murray and Angelica Huston one would mediate that all of “The Aquatic Life” would be without an emotional life. But I found this film to have a very deep well of emotion if you are willing to wash down your emotion with great gulps of remorse and wry humor.

“The Life Aquatic” is a veritable beggar’s banquet for the eyes and the ears (a Brazilian troubadour sings David Bowie songs throughout the film to underscore the drama) and though you sometimes believe the whole ship is going to go over the edge artistically…it never does. It unbiased sails along; the course location for parts unknown and uncharted.
